Small business support unit

Before we became IP law specialists we were GPs in business law. So our legal training more than equips us to handle the many legal issues small businesses commonly face in their early years.

While we can readily advise on company formations, draft your shareholder agreements, or put in place directors’ service contracts for you, and draft employment documents when you hire staff, should you need legal help that is outside our skill set, such as advice on the financial services regulations, then we will refer you to a specialist. Similarly, conveyancing and property related work is a trap for the unwary lawyer who dabbles. Therefore we choose not to do any property work. If you need help with the lease of a shop or offices, or other property matter we are able refer you to excellent lawyers who know what they are doing, and will protect your best interests.

However, most routine legal requirements of small businesses are well known to us, and are fairly legally simple and straightforward. Although small businesses may well have numerous legal needs, they rarely have an unlimited budget to buy everything in one go.
So, one of the ways we add value is in helping you to prioritise your legal expenditure. We help you to ensure that critical issues are addressed at the right time, while less urgent matters are left for later. In this way you can better manage your legal risks.
