Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

SEO refers to a set of techniques used by marketers to increase the visibility of websites in search engine results – often the first port of call for consumers searching for goods or services. The internet has made it possibel for businesses to reach a global audience in an affordable way, but as more and more businesses establish a presence online the online marketplace has grown cluttered. For example, a search for “fashion designers” produces a list of nearly ten million different web pages. To take advantage of the extensive audience offered by the internet a web page needs to position itself high up in search engine rankings, so that when a potential customer searches for relevant products or services, it appears near the top of the list. Achieving this is no simple task, and this is the aim of SEO.

The sheer volume of work involved in developing and implementing an effective SEO strategy means that many businesses do not have the resources to carry it out in-house, and so engage professionals to do this for them. An important consideration addressed by our product relates to the risks involved when outsourcing this work – without and understanding of the issues involved in SEO it is not easy to avoid making mistakes as to your requirements. So the material introduces a number of concepts, and guidelines, as well as a contract template for use when engaging a professional. Below is a brief extract from the presentation:

While the product provides a vast amount of valuable information, this strength was also a weakness. The consolidated material was too substantial, and difficult to take in, and so not as accessible as we would have liked. To address this, we have withdrawn the product, and are working to improve both the quality and structure of the information provided, so that it is easy for users to quickly identify and assimilate what is relevant to them. This effort is part of a new initiative aimed at offering similar, detailed information, covering a broader range of topics in a more accessible way.

Drawing from our experience of delivering material in a variety of different formats, including online articles, audio, e-books, videos and slideshow presentations, we are developing a subscription service which will provide valuable information, on a wide range of specialist topics, relevant to businesses.

Membership will be available on a tiered basis, so that it is only necessary to pay for the information, and assistance that is necessary. The entry level option will be particularly relevant to start ups.

Further details of our membership services will be provided shortly via a link from this page, so look out here for more information.
