Copyright eBook: Appendix
In this appendix we take a brief look at how the mistakes outlined in the article translate in the laws of USA, India, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.
This is very much intended to be a starting point for your own enquiries and research should you be dealing with a matter that involves the laws of these other countries. In no way should it be regarded as definitive.
We hope in future editions of this article to cover the international aspects of copyright law, and look at other countries in more detail, but for now this is just a starting point.
The important point to note is that in most countries" laws, it is possible to vary the copyright rules that govern your relationship with third parties by written agreement. So, get into the habit of thinking about copyright and agreeing in writing who is to own what. You are then likely to enjoy copyright protection wherever you do business.
Because the laws of many countries in the English speaking world are based on the common law, there is a similarity of approach in many English speaking countries. Therefore, the following countries are briefly reviewed in the pages that follow:
- USA
- India
- South Africa
- Australia
- New Zealand
