Online Terms and Conditions
Terms of use explain to your website visitors how they may use its contents, and they aim to protect you against any liability arising from the contents of your site. Terms of business govern the contractual relationship between you and your customers when selling goods or services. This documentation is essential to businesses operation online.
You are legally required to make it clear who is behind your website, and must provide full company name and registration details, along with the registered address (a PO box is not sufficient). When selling your goods or services online there are a range of regulatory requirements with which you must comply to avoid difficulties later on - for example where incorrect pricing information is temporarily displayed on your website; where buyers demand a refund; or where goods are damaged or broken in transit.
There are a whole host of other important considerations when doing business online, many of which will be specific to your circumstances. Our understanding of the web is likely to save you time and unnecessary expense, as we appreciate the unique issues and considerations relevant to the internet, including the regulatory climate within the European Union, and will be able to advise you on the documentation you need, and how best to structure the online contract formation process.
For very rudimentary requirements we offer a free template for website terms of use. You can download it here.
